What is MEP?
So, you’ve seen the word “MEP” plastered all over the internet in regards to BlackBerry unlocking, and you’ve read the instructions on how to unlock your BlackBerry once you get your BlackBerry unlock code and noticed that part of the unlocking process requires you to type “MEPD”, “MEP2″ and sometimes “MEP4″. But, what does this all mean it?? MEP stands for Mobile Equipment Personalization and each BlackBerry is assigned 1 version of 225 MEPs and going. Each phone has 5 “locks” and usually at least one of the locks (the Network lock also known as “MEP2″) is locked. Some operators lock 2 locks (the Network and Service Provider also known as “MEP4″), a couple even lock ALL 5 locks and some don’t lock them at all. You’re most likely visiting this website because your Network lock is locked to one specific network, and you’d like to use your phone on some other GSM Sim Card Network.
